Paul Emmett is a piano teacher and music educator, teaching in schools, in his studio and online, with composition classes and mentoring for new teachers.

How Paul teaches

Paul's teaching is built around the pupil. Most beginners start with Me and My Piano, then move on to Trinity exams, pop songs, tutor books and favourite pieces as they are ready.

Lessons are meant to be enjoyable. At school, the children answer a weekly music question with a vote on the board, and the results go home by email.

Families receive lesson notes, invoices and reminders through My Music Staff, so everyone knows what to practise and what comes next.

Piano lessons during term time at the school in Grantham.

In person at Paul's studio, at the student's home (additional fees may apply), or online.

Online or in person, with goal-based packages for anyone who wants to write their own music.
Duke of Edinburgh skills
A package built around the skills section of the award.

Working with other teachers

Paul is currently mentoring a new peripatetic music teacher through a year-long pilot. It is one to one, and focuses on building confidence and classroom skills.

He hopes to extend the programme to other teachers and schools in future.
