These terms cover lessons, packages, the Sheet Music Shop and other services from Paul Emmett Music. Prices are shown on the Services & Packages page.

Booking and payment

  • Lessons and packages are booked and paid for through My Music Staff (MMS).
  • Card payments are taken by Stripe through MMS and through my website shop. Apple Pay is accepted.
  • Fees are as shown on the Services & Packages page or on your invoice. Exam entry fees, DofE registration fees and any travel charges are extra and are shown on that page.

Lessons in school (Huntingtower)

  • If a pupil cannot attend, please tell me by 9am on the day of the lesson.
  • From September 2027, a lesson cancelled after this deadline is still charged.

Studio, home-visit and online lessons

  • Please give 24 hours' notice to cancel or move a lesson.
  • With less than 24 hours' notice, the lesson is still charged. I will issue a make-up credit so the pupil can have a lesson at another convenient time.
  • A make-up credit is for an extra lesson. It cannot be used in place of a normally scheduled lesson.
  • For online lessons with children, a parent or carer should be close by, ideally in the same room.

If I cancel a lesson

  • I will offer a make-up lesson, normally at no charge.
  • If we cannot find a suitable make-up time, I will refund the lesson.

Packages and blocks

  • 14-day cancellation right: you can cancel a package within 14 days of buying it, without giving a reason. Tell me by email. I will refund what you paid, minus the fee for any lessons already given and any costs I have already incurred.
  • If you ask me to start lessons within the 14 days, you agree to pay for the lessons given up to the point you cancel.
  • After 14 days: packages and blocks are non-refundable.
  • If a pupil leaves with credit remaining: the credit can be transferred to someone else if you wish, but you need to arrange this yourselves and let me know.
  • Year Blocks are valid for 12 months from purchase.

Digital downloads (Sheet Music Shop)

  • Downloads are PDF files, sent automatically by email through my Squarespace shop after purchase.
  • Because the file is supplied straight away, you ask for immediate delivery and agree that you lose your right to cancel once the download starts. Downloads are not refundable.
  • This does not affect your legal rights. If a file is faulty, will not open or is not as described, email me and I will replace it or refund you.
  • The music remains my copyright. Please do not copy, share or resell it.

Insurance

I hold public liability insurance through the ISM, with cover of £10 million.

Complaints

If something has gone wrong, please email me. I will aim to reply within 5 working days and to put things right.

Changes and law

I may update these terms, and the date above will change. The terms in force when you book apply to that booking. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
