Jubilare is a crowd-pleasing concert work for brass band, written with Christmas programming in mind. Opening with a bright, fanfare-like introduction, the piece brings together festive energy, familiar seasonal melodies, and the deep musical tradition of British brass banding.
The work draws inspiration from three contrasting sources: Robert Saint’s miners’ hymn Gresford, the traditional French melody Ding Dong! Merrily on High, and the Advent hymn O Come, O Come, Emmanuel. These melodies are woven together to create a piece that feels celebratory, reflective, and rooted in brass band heritage.
Commissioned by Thoresby Colliery Band for Christmas 2025, Jubilare is designed as an accessible and engaging concert item. It offers audiences moments of recognition while giving the band bold fanfares, warm hymn-like textures, and festive momentum.
